Welcome to the U.S.S. Hope!

What does a beacon of light have in common with life saving research? Hope. Come take part in the adventures and challenges that arise while serving aboard a truly unique vessel.

The USS Hope is a medical vessel specializing in medical research, emergency evacuations, scientific research and planetary aid. She operates within the Inconnu Expanse and her crew has dedicated themselves to treating everyone equally be they Romulan, Klingon, Tribble or Federation. A part of Bravofleets 72nd Task Force, she's an old vessel with creaks and things that go bump in the night but she still has some life in her, come bring that life to her and be a part of a piece of history.

» A friendly reminder.

Posted on Wed Jul 16th, 2014 @ 9:09pm by Lieutenant Maxwell McNeil in General News

Just wanted to drop every one a friendly reminder. If you want to continue on with the Hope I need to hear from you by the 20th. So that I can plan accordingly. So far I have only heard from one person. While I am here let me clarify one thing. If I do not hear from you by the 20th I will take your silence as a vote to go.

I don't want to come off as overbearing or anything like that I just need to know what's what so that we can move forward. I have been busy behind the scenes to get us where we need to be and I have forgotten what it can be like being on the other side of this and is unacceptable .

Shortly after I joined the Akagi there was a change of command due to the CO not having the time needed to run a sim. So I do know what it is like to be to be in the dark waiting for the details to be ironed out. So if anyone has questions about the process just ask.

» Where we stand

Posted on Mon Jul 14th, 2014 @ 3:56am by Lieutenant Maxwell McNeil in General News

I have just received an E-Mail from Vice Admiral Bradley J. Harrison (the TF 72 CO) and my character has been promoted to Lt. Commander and given command of the Hope. Since this site is owned by the previous CO I will be setting up the new hope for the Hope and transferring what few posts we have to the new site. Once the new site is up and running I will start a recruitment drive to fill out the crew roister.

Right now I need to hear from those who still want to be part of the Hope. Nothing fancy just drop me a note with your name, character name and whether you are staying or not. To keep us rolling I must require you let me know your intentions by the 20th of this month. That is little over a week.

We are defiantly moving in the right direction and it will not be long be fore we are out there boldly going.

» Clarification about switching

Posted on Mon Jun 16th, 2014 @ 3:17am by Lieutenant Commander James Merritt in Website Update

Since I know there may be some who would also like clarification, I'm sending out another announcement about this.

SMF = Simple Machines Forum, it is a forum system that I am very much familiar with. It's a wonderful system that is also very flexible.

Reasons being:
* Open forum for discussions pertaining to everything and anything
* Mission Posts/personal logs/etc. (one can enable notifications to be emailed whenever someone posts in missions posts/personal logs/etc. relatively easily)
* I am not planning on having it setup as hundreds of sub forums for locations, it's going to be a simple setup: Sim Info, Mission Posts, Personal Logs, General Discussion, Announcements, etc.
* Easy to moderate, modify, etc.

I can assure you this is not going to be a major change. Many of the items that are liked about NOVA are included, (such as receiving notifications of new missions postings and news, etc.) It just takes a few extra mouse clicks to get it working. Posting is also not that much different.

if you wish to get a feel for the software you can log into my test bed/backup right here: http://usshope.createaforum.com with the username: testuser and the password: test

I promise you I am going to make this as seamless as possible for you all.

» Switching from SMS to PBF

Posted on Mon Jun 16th, 2014 @ 2:12am by Lieutenant Commander James Merritt in Website Update

Hey everyone, don't let your heart skip a beat now. I've discovered some problems between my web host and NOVA (mainly just the fact that they don't tend to play along nicely). The other sad part is that it's a lot easier for me to maintain a forum than it is to tackle NOVA. So in due time I'll be switching the website over from NOVA to SMF. I will be backing up all missions posts (that are posted) and creating your accounts.

Just wanted to give you a heads up.

» Fixed Sample Post displaying on rosters

Posted on Wed Apr 23rd, 2014 @ 1:06am by Lieutenant Commander James Merritt in Website Update

Also, not trying to spam your emails, but I have also just fixed the problem with the sample post displaying in the rosters page. So we hopefully shouldn't see any more sample posts taking up the rosters!
